Jarrettsville-born, Harford County raised. Mike Henry grew up on a two-acre lot at the edge of a 500-acre farm in Jarrettsville, MD, one of eleven kids in a double-wide where space was tight but work ethic ran wide. He was the kid who mowed two acres with a push mower, rebuilt junk motors in a pallet-bench shed, and felt closest to God in the woods. When a hurricane dropped a pine across the family roof—missing the kids’ beds by inches—Mike watched a local tree crew lift chaos off the house with skill, care, and calm. A seed was planted.

At 16, he emailed that same company—“I’m back”—and spent six years earning respect the old-fashioned way: dragging brush, learning ropes, then climbing and leading crews. Hungry for science-based arboriculture, he joined Bartlett Tree Experts (Baltimore), where seasoned arborists and mentors opened his eyes to tree biology, root health, and ANSI A300 pruning. Mike earned his Maryland LTEISA Certified Arborist, and CTSP credentials, cementing a safety-first approach that now defines Quality Tree Inc.

Recruited next as Safety & Production Manager for Riverbend Landscapes & Tree Service (Sterling, VA), Mike led mixed-language crews, built trust the hard way, and learned the most important lesson in leadership: people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. A serious hand injury on a job cemented his conviction—no schedule or sale outranks a worker’s fingers, back, or life.

In time, a nearly missed email became providence: an invitation to help build a true arboriculture division under the Quality Landscaping banner. Mike walked away from title and comfort to co-found Quality Tree Inc., bringing big-company standards to a hometown team: documented safety, engineered rigging plans, ground-protection by default, species-correct pruning, and Plant Health Care programs that fix the soil before felling a tree.

Today, Mike leads operations, training, and client experience with a steady hand and a redeemed heart. He believes tree work is craft and calling: protect people and property, steward trees with science, and send every crew member home whole. Married to his wife from Bel Air, MD, Mike’s happiest local days are simple—Barnes & Noble browses, a pint at Falling Branch Breweryhunting and fishing when the season’s right, and evening walks that remind him why Harford County is home.
